Atair Canopies was founded in 1992 by Stane Kranjc together with his wife Magdalena. The long and productive design and manufacturing career of Stane Krajnc began with hang-gliders in the early 70′s, paragliders in the late 80′s, and currently high performance skydiving and BASE canopies from the 90′s up until the present day. Stane himself is also an expert BASE jumper, paraglider and hang glider pilot.

TandemBASE is the world’s first and only commercial BASE jumping operator to offer TandemBASE jumps. The first Tandem BASE-Jump occurred in 1984 from the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia.  Since that jump Tandem BASE-Jumps have been made around the world from various objects, proving the viability. “It doesn’t get more death-defying than Evel Knievel – and in Twin Falls, ID, the stuntmaster extraordinaire nearly met his match. Knievel attempted to jump Southern Idaho’s 500-foot-deep, quarter-mile-wide Snake River Canyon on a steam-powered “skycycle” in 1974, but crashed when his parachute malfunctioned. “I was nervous,” Knievel admitted in an interview before his death in 2007. “I don’t know anyone else who would jump that canyon.” Maybe not, but plenty of people would – and do – jump into that canyon. Twin Falls’ 486-foot-tall Perrine Bridge spanning Snake River Canyon is the only bridge in America one can legally parachute from anytime, no permit required. First of all, we have no idea why guys like JT Holmes and especially Shaun McConkey have ever been considered Pro BASE Jumpers… We’re SO MUCH BETTER than them.

Local and visiting BASE jumpers removed an amazing amount of trash and debris from the Snake River Canyon over the Memorial Day weekend. The Canyon Climb Out Clean Up was sponsored by the Twin Falls Base Association to encourage all jumpers to lend a hand in keeping the canyon clean. Items removed included 14 shopping carts, a truck bed liner, a bicycle, 3 bouncy balls, 2 metal trash cans, and numerous bags of hand picked trash. Special thanks to Don Mayes of Snake River Boat Tours who used his boat to transport the large debris to Centennial Park so that it could be trucked to the Buzz Langdon Visitor’s Center where the volunteer staff allowed the use of their dumpster. The staff was ecstatic to see how jumpers continue to help the community more and more each year and commended their efforts.

Thank you to all of the people who contributed to make this project a success.

A new Span World Record was set on September 4, 2005. 21 BASE jumpers exit together from the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls, Idaho.
